Meet Shawn Skaggs
I grew up on farm in Tuttle, OK where I was active in FFA, livestock shows and livestock judging. I attended Junior College at Connors State College and finished my formal education at Oklahoma State University. After college, I worked for Cargill in their Animal Nutrition Division in East Texas as an Assistant Territory Manager and later a Territory Manager covering 18 counties.
Soon I decided I wanted to be closer to home and took a job with a farm equipment dealership near home. I worked my way through a variety of roles and responsibilities and now lead our employee owned company with over 100 employees and locations in two states.
After experiencing some really high highs and some incredibly low lows in business a few years ago, I started slowly coming to a few realizations. The first is that no matter how prepared you think you are or aren't, any business can be hit with catastrophic change. After experiencing that myself, I wanted to do everything I could to help fellow business leaders prepare for and manage the hurricane force headwinds we sometimes come up against. The second was that I only have a few short years left to maximize my impact on my kids and my community. The third was that I had been so focused on business, I had largely ignored the opportunities that I had to improve my financial and personal legacy. These realizations, mixed with my faith and belief that we are all here to help each other, now give my life meaning. I want to do everything I can to help you maximize your impact on your business, family and community while building your personal and financial legacy.
Over 10 years ago, my wife and I found out it would be difficult for us to have kids of our own. At that time, we felt called to look into adoption. After the trials and tribulations of working with the state and a crazy story about how we met our kids at an adoption fair, we adopted four awesome kids... at once. Yes, that's every bit as crazy as it sounds but it's our life and we're happy to have it. About a year ago we had another family member move in with us and now he too is a part of our crazy household of seven (eight if you count our dog Ace... and we do).
